Land and premises owners in a public place have a duty of care to protect the health and safety of their visitors (members of the public). In some cases they have a system of inspection that can prove they are honouring their duty of care but this is something we will determine early on in your case as it may affect the overall outcome of your claim for compensation.
Usually the person responsible for your accident will be the owner of the premises or land where it occurred and it is important that you know exactly where the accident happened in order for us to take accurate photos and carry out a site inspection to evaluate and progress your claim. You can take your own photos of the defect (what caused you to trip/slip or fall) just in case you feel that it may be rectified before we visit the site. If you do have access to a camera and take photos please use a coin, bank card or similar as a rough measuring guide. To help us make a claim for compensation for an accident such as a slip, trip or fall on your behalf there are a few steps to follow that will aid us. Writing down the details of anyone who witnessed the accident or who has known of the defect in the area i.e. someone who may live local or use the particular route regularly. Keep any receipts for any out of pocket expenses. Please contact us with any queries you have with regards to an accident in a public place.
For more information with regards to the other types of claims we deal with please see the individual pages for Accidents at Work and Road Traffic Accidents.
